FAQ's

What sort of activities or exercises do you do in the sessions?

  • Variety of activities is the big factor – that way you never know what to expect and you won’t become bored! A mixture of easy to challenging exercises is part of each session
  • Interval style aerobic training – short bursts of activity followed by a recovery period
  • Brisk walking, skipping, jogging and running depending on client’s fitness level
  • Stair work, hill climbs and beach work
  • Partner and team activities with a noncompetitive emphasis
  • Strength exercises emphasising bodyweight e.g. squats, lunges, sit ups, push ups – all done in an endless variety of combinations and styles so you don’t get bored.
  • Circuit sessions – a mixture of aerobic and strength stations – exercises done for a short period of time and then rotate to the next station
  • Boxing (all gloves and pads supplied)
  • Water based activities may also be part of hot weather sessions

Do you do much stretching?

A 5-10 min warm up and cool down stretching segment is incorporated into every training session.

Do you ever use equipment?

Sessions tend to emphasise predominantly bodyweight exercises so we get to experience lots of different beautiful locations, but at times medicine balls, skipping ropes, resistance tubes, weight plates and dumbbells, fitballs can be incorporated. Boxing is primarily used as a circuit or wet weather alternative activity.

How will I know I’m getting results?

A fitness assessment is done every series so you are able to benchmark individual improvements in aerobic fitness, muscle tone, strength endurance, agility, weight loss and improved bodyfat percentage. Assessment results are emailed to your with comparative data included.

Initial results include increased energy and vitality, improved cardio-vascular fitness, toned muscles and increased strength, not to mention just a feeling of wellbeing – not bad for 8 weeks!

What if I’m not very fit to begin with?

All sessions cater for beginners to advanced fitness levels with the trainer encouraging you to seek the next level within the session as your fitness improves.
Everyone starts off thinking they are not very fit, but before you finish your first series you will see considerable changes in your aerobic and strength fitness levels.

Who are the trainers?

All PinkFit trainers are suitably qualified personal trainers with considerable experience and professional interest in outdoor training. Each trainer follows the PinkFit methodology of outdoor training but brings their individual training and motivational style as well as creativity to the sessions. All have the appropriate registration and insurances specified by Fitness Australia as well as current first aid and CPR certification. First aid equipment is accessible if required. Please see Trainer’s Profile page for more information.

What do I need to bring along?

As we tend to move location a lot during sessions you only need to bring or wear:

  • Comfortable working out clothes, layered for the colder weather
  • A hat and/or sunnies plus sunblock for the warmer weather
  • Good, supportive training shoes
  • A bottle/container of water – lightweight
  • Any medication you may require, e.g. asthma inhaler

Trainer carries keys and medication in a backpack for easy access.

Whereabouts do you run your sessions?

Groups currently meet at Manly where the trainer then can take the session to various locations beachside and harbourside or every now and then we meet in a different location, e.g. Freshwater. This keeps it interesting as you never know where you might end up and enjoying a couple of different locations is much less boring than staying in one spot for the whole 60 mins! Locations differ every session of the week depending on what the trainer has planned.

If you live elsewhere either on the northern beaches or north of the harbour and are keen to train outdoors just get in contact with PinkFit and we will see what we can do to get a session going – you only need 5 other friends and you have your group.

What happens when it rains or is inclement weather?

Sessions normally run rail, hail or shine so consistency in your training is maintained - so you achieve your fitness goals. Trainers have undercover arrangements they can use for more confined space activities, e.g. circuit or boxing. You can be guaranteed that you will still get a workout even if it is wet! If a session does need to be cancelled your trainer will contact you ahead of time.

Am I able to make up missed sessions?

If you are sick or away on holidays you’re able to make up missed sessions in another timeslot in the same series with the trainer’s approval and numbers permitting. Ultimately though, its like any course you sign up for, if you miss one or two, you just have to wear it. Of course if you miss a lot of sessions for a valid reason, some alternative arrangements may be organised – ensure you speak to your trainer at the earliest opportunity if this situation occurs.
